2024 Foundation Award recipient

Foundation Stationery Award recipient 2024

It was wonderful to once again present a Year 13 student with the Linwood Te Aratai Foundation Trust award. This award was established in 2023 by Past Pupil Garth Stevenson.

The recipient for 2024 was Brandon Clarenbeek who was also awarded Te Aratai College Dux for 2024. Brandon is off to Canterbury University next year to study engineering. Well done Brandon.

The Linwood Te Aratai Foundation Stationery Grant

We are delighted to report that the Foundation has been able to establish a new annual grant for a school leaver thanks to the generosity of past pupil Garth Stevenson (1958-62).

Garth, who has supported the education of a student in Vanuatu for many years, wanted to provide similar support to a Te Aratai student. Garth had a very thoughtful way of making this grant grow with time, by increasing the original sum of the donation, $1,000, annually by the amount of tax rebate he will receive from IRD for the previous year’s donation. Within a few years this would effectively double the amount of the grant.  This grant will be known as the Linwood College Te Aratai Foundation Stationery grant. The grant can be used for books and other practical stationery needs for university studies.

The Foundation is very appreciative of Garth’s initiative and hopes this is a way other past pupils may also like to support our new kura; for example towards a Uniform hardship fund or towards music and drama needs.

Our school welcomes such support. Thank you, Garth.
