Kia Ora and Talofa
As I reflect on my first year as Principal at Te Aratai College, I am filled with gratitude and a sense of purpose. Returning to my former school has been an incredible opportunity, allowing me to serve a community that holds a special place in my heart.
My most cherished memories of my time at Linwood High are of inspiring teachers and lifelong friendships. As an alumna, I have endeavoured to bring that same spirit of enthusiasm and commitment to our current students and teachers. It has been particularly heartwarming to see the next generation of learners, including the children of former students, walking the halls of Te Aratai. This connection to the community enriches our school environment and reinforces the importance of our shared history.
Throughout this year, I have experienced both challenges and successes as a new principal, and the support I have received from staff, students, and local organisations has been invaluable. Together we have fostered an atmosphere grounded in respect, high expectations, and a commitment to continuous improvement. It is encouraging to see our values resonate within the school community, and I am proud of the progress we have made.
I would like to extend an invitation to all former Linwood High/College students to reconnect with our school. There are numerous opportunities to give back, whether through sports, tutoring, or mentoring. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the lives of our current students, helping them to navigate their educational journey and enjoy the same enriching experiences we had during our time here.
Looking ahead to my second year, I am excited about the potential for growth within the Linwood Te Aratai Foundation and our collaborative efforts to support the next generation. Together we can continue to cultivate a thriving community in the east, ensuring that our students have the resources and guidance they need to succeed.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. I am truly grateful to have returned to my roots and to contribute to the legacy of Linwood High/College, now Te Aratai College.
